St Johns' School, Sandbach

Fiona Bruce MP visited St John’s Church of England Primary School’s 150thcelebration and met with pupils, their parents and grandparents, and teachers and teaching assistants.
Fiona Bruce said “It was wonderful to attend St John’s 150thbirthday celebration event and to see photos of the school and its pupils which have been collected from local residents showing the life of the school over so many years.
Fiona Bruce continued “I enjoyed looking round this lovely school and was particularly impressed with what a happy school it is – not only when I met the pupils, from the very young to the most senior, but this as also emphasised to me by the fact that so many of the staff have been at the school for many years and are clearly devoted and dedicated to it and to the well-being of the children there.”
The event, a coffee and memorabilia morning, was open to all local residents to come into the school to look at old photos, have coffee and cake, and view a slide presentation about life on the Heath over the years. It is one of a series of events to be held over the next few months – which are open to pupils, parents and local residents – more information about which can be found at

Deputy Headteacher Suzanne Jenkins said “Today was the first of our coffee mornings to celebrate 150 years of St John’s Primary school, and we were thrilled with the turnout including ex pupils and staff. This is just one of the many events we are holding as part of our celebrations. Many thanks to Fiona Bruce for attending today, and showing a great interest in our small but amazing school. I hope she will visit again soon.”
